Surfing On a Rocket

Lets see. Things are going well at work. I completed my training last month & am now considered a full fledged employee. We're having a huge holiday party with open bar & food on Friday. I'm pretty excited. My mom gets into the city around 9:30 that evening and we're spending the weekend shopping and doing other fun things around the city. :)

Had a very enjoyable Thanksgiving vacation at home. My parents moved into a new house in Avon which is really nice. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the area compared to Carmel where they have been for the past 10+ years. For the first time in my entire life, we went shopping on Black Friday. Omg. I wish we would have gone sooner (unless the sales were just better than ever this year due to the recession?). My mom and I got virtually ALL the Christmas shopping done. I picked up a bunch of new clothes, some as much as 75-80% off. It was crazy.

The weather up here in Chicago is starting to seem more like winter (finally). It had been so mild the past few months. It didn't even feel like fall. I think in October we were still having some days with upper 60 degree weather! We got our first snow yesterday though it didn't really stick. It's snowing quite a bit now and the overnight low tonight is supposed to be around 4 degrees. Yikes. Good thing I bought a warmer coat last winter and just ordered some new boots today.

This past weekend was tons of fun. On Saturday, I got to meet Peter Hook of Joy Division / New Order! He was doing a dj set at SmartBar coupled with a signing of his new book, Hacienda: How Not to Run a Club. I can't wait to start reading it. And he told me I have a cool name! Then on Sunday I went to Star Wars in Concert. I'm a total nerdy sucker for anything Star Wars so I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was hosted by Anthony Daniels who played C-3P0. It was so much fun! The orchestra was amazing. If it comes to your city, I highly recommend it.
